Let me support your students and staff
We all want to create vibrant research communities at universities where students and staff are enthusiastic, productive, and collegiate. Too much of the time we are instead rushed, overwhelmed and even lonely. As well as affecting well-being, this affects levels of progression, retention and achievement.
Individual support can go a long way to helping this feel easier, but widespread change comes from sustained institutional commitment.
I offer one-off workshops for staff or students, as well as my unique group coaching membership programme.
Online workshops

I have a series of online workshops for PhD students, early career researchers, and senior academics. These are evidence-based, psychologically informed, and delivered by me, an experienced senior academic and life coach.
The PhD/ECR courses cost £300 and this year these include:
- How to start as you mean to go on
- How to be your own best supervisor
- What to do when you've got too much to do
- How to write when you’re struggling to write
- How to reduce your procrastination and stay focused
- How to overcome imposter syndrome
- How to manage your time and energy
- How to manage your supervisory relationship
- How to handle negative feedback
- How to make decisions and prioritise
- What to do when you feel behind
- How to network without feeling gross
- How to have a work-life balance
- How to plan for the summer
They are a two hour workshop and participants will receive a handout and links to my podcast for ongoing support and reflection.
I also offer online courses in Effective Supervision and Having Difficult Conversations as a Supervisor. Contact me for more details or with bespoke enquiries.
Online group coaching membership

This is my flagship programme! The PhD Life Coach membership provides regular online group coaching to address issues such as overwhelm, negative self-talk, lack of motivation, and procrastination. Due to its unique group format, it creates a sense of community and shared, ongoing support while also being scalable and affordable to deliver. Although PhD students can join as individuals, I also offer institutional memberships where universities pay to get access for all their PhD students at a substantially reduced rate.
The membership includes at least two webinars a week (for 42 weeks/year), providing a mixture of classes and coaching, as well as an online community hub. There are also monthly two hour online workshops.
We provide promotional materials and an annual report giving anonymous data on student attendance, engagement, and the main issues experienced by the participants.
It can be "launched" by your university as a high profile commitment to research student well-being and success.
